The sweeps never write a status. Stage, cascade and obligation state are all derived at read time — so a date passing changes what you see without anybody touching a row.

Each sweep INSERTs a claim before it emits, and only emits if it won the insert. Two cron invocations firing at once are arbitrated by Postgres, not by luck.
  1. RENEWALS, scheduled 0 13 * * *, emits renewal.due. Ridgeline Logistics — renewal due in 60 days — Stage derived, never written.
  2. LICENCES, scheduled 30 13 * * *, emits license.expiring. M. Okafor — TX resident licence expires in 30 days — 4 non-resident licences depend on it.
  3. SURPLUS LINES, scheduled 0 14 * * *, emits surplus_lines.filing_due. Cedar & Vine LLC — TX filing due in 15 days — Deadline from YOUR rule book.
[ THE E&O DEFENCE FILE ]

What was offered. What was refused.

“You never offered me flood.”

Peter Biging, E&O defence attorney (2021): “A lot of the activity in the agent E&O area is the alleged failure to properly advise with regard to the coverage to have or the coverage to purchase.” Failure to procure coverage is the No. 1 cause of claims in the Big “I”–Swiss Re agents’ E&O program (2017–22).

Everything else in Brella records what you did. This records what you offered — and what they refused.

Captured at quote. Confirmed at bind. Re-asked every renewal term. A rejection signed three years ago is weak evidence for this year’s policy.

Never a gate. Nothing blocks a sale over paperwork. An unanswered coverage becomes a Today item, and the file prints “not documented” rather than implying otherwise.

Not hidden by the interface. Removed server-side, before the payload is built. A customer’s browser never holds a byte of it.

[ THE MACHINE ]

Four decisions that make the rest possible.

01

Nothing goes stale.

Renewal windows, licence health, coverage status — every one of them is worked out fresh from what's true right now, not read off a flag somebody forgot to update.

02

One brain, not two to keep in sync.

The exact same logic runs your day-to-day workspace and what a policyholder sees on their own portal. What your team sees and what your customer sees can never quietly drift apart.

03

Your book is yours. Structurally.

Every request is locked to your agency before it reaches your data — not a setting someone could leave off. Not another agency, not Brella's own staff, can browse into your customers.

04

Nothing gets missed. Nothing gets doubled.

A renewal, licence or filing reminder fires exactly once — even if the same check happens to run twice. No duplicate email to a customer, no deadline that quietly slips through.

Info travels

Name the task.

It reads the record, makes the change, files the document.

It asks before anything reaches a customer.

[ WHAT BIRD DOES ]

Name the task. It is done from the chat.

The same 111 actions the workspace’s own tabs perform, each authorised the way the tab is. Internal work runs on its own; anything a policyholder sees waits for your tap.

  1. READS

The whole record, before it touches it.

The policy, its documents, the readiness report, the certificates, the claims, the book — 111 tools, every one an action the workspace already has.

  2. WRITES

Internal work runs on its own.

General liability, coverage lines, underwriting answers, questionnaire answers, change-request drafts, claim notes, holders, reminders.

  3. FILES

Drop a document; it is filed under its kind.

Loss runs, the completed application, the ACORDs, the schedule of values — generated from the record and filed on the policy.

  4. ASKS

A question is chips, a date, or an address search.

Never a choice buried in a paragraph. An address is looked up through the property data service, never typed blind.

  5. WAITS

Anything a policyholder sees needs your tap.

A message, a document request, an issued certificate, a submitted change — 37 outward actions show a card and run only when you confirm.

Ready

Tell Bird the task. It will do it from here.

A real run on the demo book, 14 September 2026. The address from the property data service; the building facts from the public record; the tenure from one tap.
